What AURA is
AURA (Autism-Understanding Real-time Accessibility) is a public service of the A.U.R.A. project. Sensor kits installed in public places measure noise, air quality, temperature and other environmental conditions. The website and the mobile app show those readings live, band them as good, moderate or bad against a comfort profile, and — with an account — let you set alert rules, keep a comfort profile of your own, log your visits and leave feedback about places.
These terms apply to the website, the mobile app and the account you may create. By using them you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Readings are information, not a guarantee
Every value you see comes from a sensor kit in the place itself. Kits go offline, run late, drift, and measure one spot rather than a whole building. A reading can be minutes or hours old — the “updated” time on each place tells you how old — and a comfort band is a judgment made against a profile, not a measurement of how you personally will feel.
AURA does not promise that a place is safe, accessible, quiet or comfortable, and nothing in the service is medical, clinical or safety advice. Use the readings as one input into your own decisions, and rely on your own judgment when it matters.
Your account
You need an account for alert rules, a personal comfort profile, visits and feedback. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private and for what happens under your account. Keep the email address on your account current so we can reach you about it.
You can delete your account at any time from your settings on the website or in the app. Deleting it removes your profile, rules, visits and feedback as described in the privacy policy.
Alerts, visits and location
Alert rules are delivered on a best-effort basis. Whether a notification reaches you depends on the kit reporting in time, on your phone’s operating system letting the app run, and on your network. Do not rely on an AURA alert for anything that would be harmful if the alert did not arrive.
Visit detection uses geofencing on your phone and is optional. You control it in the app’s settings and in your phone’s location permissions, and you can turn it off at any time.
Feedback you leave about places
When you leave feedback about a place, you agree that we may show it on that place’s page on the website and in the app — anonymously by default — and use it in aggregate to describe how a place feels. Written notes are reviewed before they appear publicly and we may decline to publish or later remove a note without notice, for example if it names people, is abusive or is unrelated to the place.
Only leave feedback you have the right to share. Do not include personal information about other people.
Acceptable use
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
- Do not try to break into the service, probe it for weaknesses or disrupt it for other people.
- Do not scrape or bulk-download readings, feedback or other content by automated means beyond ordinary browsing; ask us if you need the data for a project.
- Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, discriminatory or misleading in feedback.
- Do not use the service to track, identify or harass any person.
Content and intellectual property
The website, the app, their design and their text belong to the A.U.R.A. project partners and are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. Map tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap contributors under their own licence. Sensor readings are published so you can read and use them; if you want to reuse them at scale, get in touch first.
Availability and changes
AURA is provided as-is and free of charge. We may change, pause or stop parts of the service — including adding or removing monitored places — at any time. We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when we last did, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the project partners are not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of the service or your reliance on any reading, band, alert or answer it shows. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Greece and the courts of Greece have jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection you enjoy where you live. Questions about these terms go through the contact form.
